After having to upgrade from 3 to 4 due to Apple's Catalina upgrade, now it looks that the activation key for 3 doesn't work for 4 and i should have to pay again to keep on using the program because of changes related to companies. A thing that i find unfair and that obviously will NOT do.
I bought an Eyetv 2 lite stick in February 2020 (via Amazon, receipt from Geniatech). The activation key coming with this newly bought article doesn't work with Eyetv 4 software for Mac OS Catalina. I contacted Geniatch several times but never got a helpful answer (only a support ticket) or a new key for the software I need. Is this the way Geniatech deals with their customers? So my advice: Don't buy their products. You won't get any support if you're in trouble.

If you do NOT currently have a working installation of EyeTV, we would be happy to issue you a new activation key. All we ask is that you provide some proof or documentation verifying your purchase. An example of this might be a
I don't have a problem with this personally as eyetv 4 is completely redone software etc. and I have been using a Diversity dual tuner stick and before that a 300e hybrid stick for at least 15 years with not one real problem that I can remember, absolutely awesome and a perfect fit for Mac longevity.
I have been trying to get assistance on an Mac OS Eye tv 4 application problem (app crash) for several months. No response. They gladly sold me an activation key, but the app hasn't worked once since I downloaded it. No updates have fixed the problem. I have yet to record a single minute of television with Eye tv 4.
I bought a preowned EyeTV 250 plus that came complete with EyeTV 3 software and the activation key. I have El Capitan on my computer so I was unable to run the software that came with the device so I downloaded the newest versions from the Geniatech website and when I launch the program and run through the setup assistant I reach the section where I need to enter my activation key and it doesn't unlock the 'Next' key. What are my options here? I specifically was looking to get an Eyetv 250 plus WITH an activation key card to that I didn't need to shell out more money for the software. I've tried contacting Geniatech support via their page and have not heard anything back. I'd really appreciate any help/experience anyone has with this issue. Thanks!
Pretty sure the disc I have says EyeTV 3 on it and it looks like it came with the 250 plus but I don't think I have a way to know for sure. I'll reach out to the seller and see if they know anything. When I get home from work i'll double check the disc that came with it but I'm 99% sure it said EyeTV 3 on it. I was able to install the disc I had but then when I went to open it I got a message saying that it couldn't be run on my OS (El Capitan) as I had a similar message from my old copy of Adobe Photoshop CS2 after I upgraded to El Capitan last year. As far as I understand it I have to use the latest version of EyeTV available from Geniatech if I'm running El Capitan. Is that true? If there is a version somewhere I can download to use with my original activation key? Thanks for your help Ton!
I tried reinstalling the latest version from Geniatech which is 3.6.9 (7513). I choose Geniatech from the device manufacturer list as Elgato is not listed. Then I select Eyetv 250 plus and on the next screen I enter my name and company and then I've tried typing the serial number in with dashes, without dashes, with dashes and spaces on either side of the dashes as it kinda looks like that on my activation key card. Nothing works. Can't get past that screen...at this point I'm stuck and don't know what else to do
Thanks Ton. I appreciate your help. I don't remember if I have any zeros or Os but I didn't think about that so I'll check. Here's the link of the review I looked at with the photos of what was in the 250 plus box and I have the exact same materials and sleeve for the installation disc. -eyetv-250-plus-review
Still have not heard from Geniatech at all on this. Does it matter that my activation key card says "EyeTV 250 PLUS" above the key instead of "EyeTV3" As in does this key only work for legitimizing my hardware and not the software? I'm just completely stuck at this point and grasping at straws
However, I now seem to have an issue the same or similar the issue described in this thread. At the activation window, the "Next" button is disabled. I have duplicated the issue with different activation codes on two different computers, both running OS X 10.11.6. I duplicated the issue with both EyeTV 3.6.9 (7413) and 3.6.9 (7416).
This article provides information about how to restore lost or invalid activation keys, and determine eligibility for EyeTV 3 upgrades, along with many other aspects of software installation and licensing.
If you do NOT currently have a working installation of EyeTV, we would be happy to issue you a new activation key. All we ask is that you provide some proof or documentation verifying your purchase. An example of this might be a scanned receipt, PDF invoice, or email confirmation.
The EyeTV activation key is a 26-digit code in four sections, printed on a postcard included with your purchase. Please check the box again carefully, esp. under the foam padding. Activation keys included with the latest EyeTV Hybrid 2009 are located on the back of the CD jewel case for this item.
All EyeTV activation keys are sent out by an automated system less than 15 minutes after the placement of the order. If this key has not yet reached you after this time period has elapsed, please feel free to contact us at and we will assist in getting this information to you as soon as possible.
Per the End User License Agreement included in the EyeTV software, each EyeTV activation key allows you to install and use one copy of the Software on a single computer at a time. This License does not allow the Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time. If the Software was included with a Hardware product then this License does not allow you to use the Software with another Hardware product.
Most EyeTV installations that fail during the key input phase do so due to user input errors. Please carefully check and recheck to be sure you are not using any O s or Zeros in activation keys - the closest character is D.
Your EyeTV key is a 26 digit string of letters and numbers. This is different from your proof-of-purchase code - a proof of purchase code will not work as an activation key. EyeTV will not install on any Mac running less than Mac OS 10.4.11.
I finally posted a comment on the elgato forum. I was told that running the product on my puny laptop was the problem and I would have to spring for their more expensive and less convenient version with boosters built in. 2ff7e9595c
